Reinas Cleaning

A Reina's Cleaning cleaner wiping down a refrigerator

A move-out cleaning in Highlands Ranch is a detailed clean of an empty home, inside the appliances, cabinets and drawers, every bathroom fixture, baseboards and floors, so it is ready for a landlord's walkthrough, a buyer, or the next people moving in. Because nothing is in the way, it is the one time every surface in the house can be reached. Here is what a thorough move-out clean covers, how to time it, and what to do before the team arrives.

Experience that comes from the other side of the walkthrough

Reina's Cleaning co-owner Josh has more than 25 years in property maintenance. He started as a maintenance tech and has handled thousands of apartment turnovers with move-out cleans. That background shapes how we approach the job: we clean the way a property manager inspects, starting with the places people check first and finishing with the details that are easy to forget on a moving day.

What a move-out cleaning includes

Kitchen

  • Stove and oven cleaned inside and out, including the stovetop and knobs
  • Refrigerator cleaned inside and out, shelves and drawers included
  • Cabinets and drawers wiped inside and out
  • Countertops and backsplash degreased
  • Sink, faucet and fixtures scrubbed

Bathrooms

  • Tubs, showers, tile and glass scrubbed
  • Toilets cleaned thoroughly, including the base
  • Vanities, drawers, mirrors and fixtures cleaned

Throughout the home

  • Baseboards, door frames, doors and trim wiped
  • Light switches and outlet covers cleaned
  • Window sills and reachable interior window tracks
  • Closets wiped out, shelves included
  • Floors vacuumed and mopped

Larger homes with finished basements, extra bathrooms or a lot of cabinetry take more time, so we plan each move-out clean around the size and condition of the house.

Renters, sellers and landlords

If you are renting, your lease and the move-out checklist from your landlord or property manager define what is expected. Send it to us when you book and we will work from it. The areas most often flagged are the oven, the refrigerator, bathroom buildup, inside cabinets and dirty baseboards.

If you are selling, a clean, empty home photographs and shows better, and buyers notice kitchens and bathrooms first. Many sellers schedule the clean after the movers leave and before the final walkthrough with the buyer.

If you own a rental, a move-out clean between tenants gets the unit ready to list and makes it easier to see what actually needs repair.

When to schedule it

  • After the movers, not before. The clean goes fastest and best in an empty home.
  • Before the walkthrough. Leave enough time between the clean and the inspection that you are not stuck if a move runs late.
  • Book early in busy months. The end of the month and the summer moving season fill up first, so reach out as soon as you know your move date.

How to get the home ready

  1. Remove all furniture, boxes and personal items, including from closets, the garage and under sinks.
  2. Empty the refrigerator and freezer completely.
  3. Take down anything mounted on walls you plan to keep.
  4. Leave the utilities on. We need water and power to clean.
  5. Arrange access with a code, lockbox or key, and let us know the walkthrough date.
  6. Point out anything you want extra attention on, and any damage that exists before we start.

Common things that get missed

On moving day, people tend to focus on the rooms they can see and forget the details an inspector checks. The usual ones are the drawer under the oven, the refrigerator gaskets, the inside of the dishwasher door, the top of the refrigerator, closet shelves, the tops of door frames and the corners where floors meet baseboards. Those are on our list from the start.

Moving into a new place too

Most people are dealing with two homes at once. While we clean the one you are leaving, we can also handle the one you are moving into with our move-in cleaning, so you unpack into clean cabinets and a clean bathroom. If your new home needs a full reset later on, a deep clean with a team of 3 to 4 people covers it in one visit.
